We combine traditional farming with modern, sustainable food production and logistics
We are a family company, whose history dates back to early 20th century. For years we have been using nature’s bounty as the foundation of our business. We are aware that the current state of the environment and climate requires urgent action for the sake of a better future of our Planet.
As a leader in fresh green vegetable production, understand that in order to strike a balance between the needs of humans and those of our natural environment, we must develop and implement innovative farming practices, as well as methods of food production and logistics.
“Our values, as written into Green Holding’s business strategy, include Openness to change, Responsibility and Entrepreneurship.
I do believe that based on the foundations that have been built throughout generations we are able to successfully manage our environmental, societal and economic impacts.”

Our ESG strategy – We are Green
As a business, we are conscious of our environmental, societal and economic impacts. Therefore, we have implemented an ESG strategy that outlines the directions of our activities to support sustainable development by 2025 and by 2030.
Good, reliable plant products need clean water and soil, the right air quality and stable meteorological conditions.
Environmental pollution and climate change pose a grave threat to our business, so taking action to eradicate the negative impact of these factors is our priority.
We will continue to develop crops
that meet the objectives of regenerative agriculture
Our 1,5 ha of hydroponic cultivation yields as much as 85 ha cultivated with traditional farming practices. While growing hydroponic crops we do not use plant protections products. We also use less water compared to traditional agriculture. Our water consumption follows the principles of circularity.
Learn more about our hydroponic practices from this video.
We will reduce the use
of mineral fertilizers by 5%
We will start the cultivation of ecological crops
covering the area of 45 ha
We are aware of the role that access to clean water plays for the environment, humans as well as our business.
Therefore, it is our priority to consume it in a rational and deliberate manner.
Understanding that our business is water-intensive, we are committed to reducing our consumption of this valuable resource.
We will reduce our water consumption
for irrigation purposes by 5%
Our monitoring activities include the use of specialized drones and a scanner that verify soil structure and such parameters as hydration and our plants’ demand for water.
Thanks to the data we collect we can reduce water consumption by precisely adjusting irrigation levels to real demand.
We will reduce our water consumption
for irrigation purposes by 5%
We know how our industry impacts climate change and how climate change can affect our operations. In order to control and reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emission, in 2021 we started running calculations of greenhouse gases (GHG) generated by the processes we deploy (Scope 1) as well as the consumption of energy that we purchase (Scope 2).
Our goals
We will reduce GHG emissions generated
by our processes
(Scope 1) and the consumption of energy that we purchase (Scope 2) by 30%
We will reduce fuel consumption
in agricultural vehicles by 10%
In 2021, our Scope 1 emissions mostly came from
fuel combustion in mobile and stationary sources.
We will use 20% of electric energy
from our own renewable sources
We will have 10% of low- and zero-emissions
passenger vehicles
We will reduce electricity consumption by 10%
100% of the vehicles operated by third-part carriers will have EURO 5 and 6 combustion standards
It is our belief that in order to lower the consumption of natural resources, we need to be responsible about selecting the raw materials we use for production.
This is why we optimize both the quantity and quality of materials we utilize and look for solutions that enable improved management of these.
While we prioritize quality, safety and freshness of our products, we focus our efforts on finding best possible packaging solutions and minimizing their negative environmental impact.
Our goals
We will reduce the weight
of plastic packaging by 5%
We will reduce to zero the number of single-use boxes for transporting raw materials
We will reduce to zero the number of single-use pallets for transporting raw materials
We use crates we receive from our suppliers to pack our products
and then we return them for further use in shipment. In 2022:
we increased the total number of reusable boxes
by 8% as compared to 2021,
we achieved a 12% decrease in the number of single-use pallets,
despite the increase in production at Primavega
Good and safe quality product is, in our view, one that is wholesome, safe to eat, maintains its freshness and meets customer expectations.
Responsible crop management obliges us to certify all our vegetables we use, from our own crops as well as those purchased from external suppliers.
We will continue the GLOBAL G.A.P. or GLOBAL G.A.P. + Add-on certification (leafy greens) for 100% of our products
We will continue the GLOBAL G.A.P. or GLOBAL G.A.P. + Add-on certification (leafy greens) for 100% of the raw materials we buy
100% of our facilities will be
Food Safety certified
We inspect the quality of the vegetables that we cultivate already at the stage of plant growth, before plants are cut.
Moreover, all vegetables and other products are inspected before they reach our customers and store shelves:
We inspect:
– both our own raw materials and ones we procure from regular suppliers
– production lines (so-called inprocess inspections)
– finished goods right before shipment
– product quality inspections during product transportation
– product quality inspection on store shelves.
Our crops are GLOBAL G.A.P. or GLOBALG.A.P. + Add-on (leafy greens) certified, which confirms our compliance with good agricultural practices.
The certification involves laboratory tests by sampling, including microbiological, physicochemical, pesticide and heavy metals analyses performed on our own raw materials.
We also require that our regular suppliers of raw materials hold all the appropriate certificates.
We hold the BIO certificate for lamb’s lettuce, arugula and spinach,
which confirms that we do not use pesticides during cultivation and allows us to transport and handle organic food products.
Our Primavega plant is ISO 14001:2015, ISO 22000:2018 International Food Standard (IFS) certified.
Green Factory foreign plants hold the following certifications:
– IFS (Hungary)
– BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety (Lithuania).
Green Factory plants in Poland are SQMS
(Supplier Quality Management System) compliant,
which means we have an effective management system in place that allows us to deliver safe and high-quality products that meet McDonald’s highest supply chain standards.
GFL is BIO and IFS Logistics certified,
which confirms that the products we store and transport are controlled
to maintain refrigeration shipping conditions
as well as the quality and safety of both food and packaging.
We believe in the importance of communicating reliable product information to consumers. The labels and packaging of our products feature key facts such as food product name, weight, nutritional value, name of the company that has placed in on the market, and expiration date. According to existing regulations, expiration dates are not placed only on fresh unwashed and potted products.
We will improve the labelling of our own products
to encourage healthy eating practices
We are also introducing labelling for packaging materials management, including recyclability symbols, type of material symbols and keep clean signs.
In the future the labelling of our own products will include information about nutritional value of food products. Such labelling will make it easier for consumers to select foods that should be included in their daily diet
As a food manufacturer, it is our responsibility to prevent food waste. From the very beginning, meaning from the field, we ensure that our vegetables stay fresh for as long as possible. In case of unfavorable weather conditions we initiate additional processes such as washing, sorting and processing. They prevent the waste of a batch of raw material that might not meet quality standards expected by customers. We maintain a refrigeration line during all of our shipping and storage operations involving our products and raw materials.
We will extend expiration dates
of our products by 10%
We will continue to use packaging that ensures freshness and to adjust product quantity to customers’ needs
Our products come in practical open-and-close packaging that helps to keep them fresh for longer. We also offer single-use products and family packs that cater to various consumers’ needs and expectations.
In 2022, the amount of food donated by Green Holding companies to Food Banks almost doubled in comparison with 2021. We donated as many as 165 tons of products (vs 90 tons in 2021).

We take care of our employees because we feel that their engagement contributes to growth for the whole Holding.
We will reduce
employee turnover
In 2021 we conducted our first employee satisfaction survey. That initiative allowed us to identify our strengths as an employer, including such factors as: safe working conditions, all the necessary equipment for people to do their jobs and the possibility of receiving a day off work in case of emergencies. We also revealed some areas for improvement, such as training and development, celebrating successes and coming together, recognition, a sense of camaraderie and cooperation.
In order to address the expectations of our employees, we implemented training plans, organized joint activities, and introduced an all-year-round system of recognition cards that allows every employee to nominate a coworker for their commendable attitude and alignment with company values.
We want our employees to stay with us for the long term,
so we survey their level of job satisfaction

Our health and safety management systems (OHSMS) are compliant with regulations existing in all the countries where we operate. All workstations are included in the health and safety management system that reflects our policies, procedures and OHS manuals developed for each company based on relevant national legislation. In accordance with existing regulations, each company is obliged to perform a risk assessment for its current jobs and workstations in order to eliminate threats and minimize risks. OHS specialists manage workplace safety and conduct risk analysis. This analysis corresponds to national legislation and its frequency depends on the needs of any given company.

Healthy eating habits contribute to good overall health, and nutritional awareness is the key to success. Together with Biedronka retail chain we have developed a series of awareness workshops called „Green Wonderland” and designed for primary school children. We have conducted 1 531 sessions, which were attended by 31 000 pupils in 530 schools. The project started in 2016 and in 2021 it was suspended due to COVID-19. We are planning to continue the series under a slightly changed name „In Green Wonderland” (Polish: “W Zielonej Krainie”). We intend to keep on raising awareness among children about healthy eating habits.
We will be conducting workshops called „In Green Wonderland”
To promote healthy lifestyle
To promote balanced diet
To promote fresh vegetables in children’s everyday diet
To educate children and parents about the benefits
of a well-balanced diet
To teach children how to make healthy and delicious meals.
